Mrs. Sharon Coon
We are excited to welcome Sharon Coon to our Special Education team! Sharon brings more than 20 years of experience in special education, spanning classroom instruction, district leadership, and state-level systems work.
Most recently, Sharon served with the Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Special Education, where she led statewide efforts in data, compliance, monitoring, dispute resolution, and technical assistance. Her work has supported districts across Mississippi through IDEA compliance, integrated monitoring systems, performance determinations, corrective action planning, and meaningful technical assistance.
Throughout her career, Sharon has been a champion for students with disabilities, providing leadership in IEP development, behavior intervention, data reporting, professional learning, and systems improvement. Her background includes roles as a state bureau director, technical assistance leader, autism instructional specialist, district behavior specialist, and special education teacher.
Sharon’s deep knowledge, steady leadership, and commitment to improving outcomes for students and families make her an incredible addition to our team. We are thrilled to have her expertise and heart for this work as we continue to support districts and educators across the state.
