New Teacher Academy

Designed to begin the professional growth of your new assets in an effective way to insure that new teachers have a great start to their career. 

Understanding that the first five years in a teacher’s life are the most crucial to their remaining in the District, it is critical to welcome new teachers to the profession and to your District. The investment a School District makes when hiring a teacher is a critical part of making them successful in their profession.

The Excellence Group, LLC can develop a program for your District based on your needs and Professional Development Plan. Recommended components of the program include 1-4 days of professional development training prior to the start of the school year and a minimum of 4- days of follow-up mentoring during the year. The program is based on the following six principles:

  1. Effective research based instructional practices, i.e Madeline Hunter
  2. Effective research based on classroom management procedures and routines, i.e Harry Wong
  3. A sensitivity to and understanding of the community
  4. Teaching as a reflection of lifelong learning and ongoing professional growth
  5. Unity and teamwork among administration, teachers, support staff, and community members for development of a culture of excellence
  6. An understanding of MS curriculum and assessment requirements for all students
